COVID-19 has impacted nearly all areas of human life and sustainable development. “Building back better” requires strengthening the science-policy interface, building community resilience through education and taking holistic, multi-sectoral and cross-disciplinary action. This side event will foster discussion and present NGO recommendations on building blocks, managing risks and ensuring humans, animals and nature thrive post-COVID-19. Replicable and collaborative solutions will cover: - Human well-being and capabilities - Responding to economic shock - Creating resilient food systems and nutrition patterns - Achieving energy decarbonization and universal access - Promoting sustainable urban and peri-urban development - Securing the global environmental commons and protecting the planet - Funding sustainable development
