The event will aim at discussing needs, challenges and expectations for the development of STI for SDGs roadmaps in selected African countries, taking into account recovery plans to build back better from COVID19.
The discussion will be based on the mapping of the STI ecosystems in selected Sub-Saharan African countries carried out in the context of the project of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission on STI for SDGs roadmaps in Africa; it will be enriched by presentations from distinguished experts from academia and STI policy practitioners, as well as representatives from African countries.
The event will be the occasion to share preliminary findings of the project on STI performances and institutional set-up in the region and will benefit from the participation of representatives of countries currently involved in the development of STI for SDGs roadmaps in the framework of the Global Pilot Programme promoted by the Inter-Agency Task Team.
Following the launch of the Partnership in Action, the event will represent a call for more countries to join the Partnership by sharing experiences and engaging in STI for SDGs roadmaps. The event is expected to contribute to raising awareness on the significance of STI for SDGs roadmaps to mobilise the necessary STI potential to build more sustainable and resilient societies.
