All are cordially invited to a side event on Atoms for Peace and Development highlighting the contribution of science and technology to implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular, SDG-2.
The event will present an overview of nuclear techniques related to food safety and food security featuring specific projects implemented in the Philippines involving food irradiation, in Kazakhstan, on sustainable agriculture, and in South Africa, on fighting pests using the sterile insect technique.
The session will explore some of the myths around nuclear techniques and will highlight how scientists and policy makers can cooperate to support the achievement of governments’ development priorities in the context of Agenda 2030.
For sixty years the IAEA has been collaborating with its Member States to peaceful applications of nuclear science and technologies for the benefit of humanity.
