High-Level Political Forum
The High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) took place from 10 to 19 July 2017. The forum included a three-day ministerial segment from 17 to 19 July 2017, as part of ECOSOC’s High-Level Segment (HLS). The ECOSOC HLS concluded on 20 July 2017. This year’s forum, under the theme “Eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world,” concluded with the adoption of a Ministerial Declaration.
In line with the integrated and interlinked nature of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the HLPF 2017 conducted in-depth reviews the following goals: Goal 1: No Poverty; Goal 2: Zero Hunger; Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being; Goal 5: Gender Equality; Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; and Goal 14: Life Below Water.
Forty-three countries presented their Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs), sharing their progress on the 2030 Agenda. Participating countries in 2017 included:
Afghanistan, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Belgium, Belize, Benin, Botswana, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Maldives, Monaco, Nepal, Netherlands, Nigeria, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Qatar, Slovenia, Sweden, Tajikistan, Thailand, Togo, Uruguay, Zimbabwe.
In addition to the main sessions, the HLPF 2017 featured 147 Side Events and 3 Special Events on the margins of the forum, offering opportunities for deeper engagement and collaboration.
