The world is struggling to meet its climate objectives and progress decisively on sustainable development while addressing the continued devastating impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and facing the interlinked triple crises of energy, food and finance arising from the Ukraine conflict. Sustainable energy is key in addressing these challenges. The High-level Dialogue on Energy resulted in a Global Roadmap for Accelerated SDG 7 Action which provides crucial guidance for action. For energy action to achieve much needed co-benefits in other areas of sustainable development, it needs to integrate the consideration of interlinkages.  This side-event will bring together government representatives and multistakeholder experts to discuss energy’s interlinkages with SDG 4, SDG 5 and SDG 15, putting the spotlight on the SDG7 Policy Briefs 2022 which are published each year in support of the deliberations at the High-level Political Forum (HLPF). The Policy Briefs focus on the objective to identify a set of solid indicators for the interlinkages of energy with other SDGs, as well as the data required to assess progress on these indicators. This year’s Policy Briefs address the interlinkages with some of those SDGs which will be discussed at the HLPF 2022: SDG4, SDG5, and SDG15. The Policy Briefs are compiled by the multi-stakeholder SDG7 Technical Advisory Group, composed of experts from governments, UN organisations, international organisations and other stakeholders, convened by UN DESA.
