Scope:
Through the sharing of specific national experiences, the side event will provide participants with the opportunity to learn about effective policy responses to emerging challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, economic crises and political changes. It will underscore the necessity of whole-of-government coordination to enhance policy coherence and promote consensus for short-term and long-term policy measures. It will also shed light on the importance of adopting a whole-of-society approach to accelerate SDG implementation and will explore the effectiveness of systematic stakeholder engagement beyond the VNR, as a critical mean of implementation for the 2030 Agenda By underscoring the importance of South-South cooperation, the event will also provide an avenue for presenting some of the key activities that Sri Lanka and Pakistan have engaged in, as part of the VNR Twinning Programme and will reflect on how this collaboration has strengthened the preparation of their VNR report and has forged new partnerships among stakeholders.

- How can we build and sustain political commitment and leadership at the highest level through political cycles and amidst changing contexts?
- How can we leverage VNR processes to adopt a strategic long-term vision and build resilience against the long-term shocks that may affect the economy, society, and environment?
- How can engaging key stakeholders help to identify challenges, set priorities, align actions and mobilise resources for recovery?
- How can we build on the VNR process to strengthen policy integration and balance divergent priorities?
- How can we unlock the potential of South-South cooperation to support sharing among countries in similar situations?
- How can South-South cooperation and partnerships be leveraged during economic and political crises? to unlock new levels of North-South and triangular cooperation for SDG acceleration and financing for the SDGs?
