Asia Pacific Regional CSO Engagement Mechanism (APRCEM)
This side event intends to emphasize the need for HLPF to ensure that outcomes from the regional process inform the discourse and planning at the global level. The launch of the Asia and the Pacific Regional Spotlight Report is an initiative by Asia and the Pacific Regional CSO Engagement Mechanism (APRCEM) to bring grassroots perspectives from the region to complement the Chair’s Summary as well as create discursive spaces to link global, regional and national processes. It unveils several of our critical concerns and priorities that barely figure in the global deliberative process, and how they should be integrated for the 2030 Agenda to deliver its ambition.
The event also intends to galvanize momentum across other regions for capacity building and partnerships for enhanced civil society participation in monitoring and accountability on SDGs implementation.
Objectives
- To provide an in-depth analysis on regional progress beyond goals under review
- To highlight systemic issues requiring multilateral ambition and action at the global level
- To forge civil society collaborations across regions to strengthen follow up & review at the regional level
