Digitalization of the global supply chains management through introduction of the blockchain technologies

The side event will be addressing the issues dealing with problems Represented under SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) in particular targets 17.10 (promotion of universal trading system), 17.11 (increase of exports of developing countries) and 17.13(enhancing global economic stability)  

The specific objectives of the Side Event include to:  

● Highlight the necessity for close partnership between governments and businesses in strengthening the links between all modes of transport in accordance with Resolution 75/115 adopted by the 75th UN General Assembly last year, 

● Share latest achievements in the area of digitalization of the global transport industry as important contributions implementation of 17 SDGs and the Vienna Program for LLDCs, 

● Present the concept of the Global Transit Document, based on exemplary private-public partnership, its aims, purposes, and implementation mechanisms,  ● Share latest achievements and experience in the area of digitalization of the global transport industry as an important contribution implementation of 17 SDGs and the Vienna Program for LLDCs, 

● Identify/review additional areas where the latest IT solutions (incl blockchain) and paperless technologies could support the sustainable transport and supply chains around the world.  

The Side Event will feature presentations by different stakeholders including representatives from the governments, UN regional commissions, regional economic organizations, the private sector and civil society.

The panel discussion will be followed by statements by the governmental representatives of involved states (from their capitals) and the adoption of the special Joint Statement on the support of the GTrD Pilot and its contribution to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
