The pandemic has worsened gender equality in education and work. The economic crisis induced by Covid 19 has disproportionately hit women in terms of job and income loss. Gender inequalities in education has also been exacerbated in light of online education. Access to digital space remains inaccessible and gendered where girls and women have less access to boys and men. Gender-just skills education (GJSE) with an ecosystem support can be a solution to address both inequalities and a path towards gender-just recovery and sustainability. It works towards the right of girls and women from marginalised communities for decent work within education and through education. It looks at the entire ecosystem of change that needs to be established to enable marginalsed women to access education and training that could be transformative and provide them with a chance to livelihood with dignity. It also looks at how technology can be leveraged for addressing gender inequalities in education and work. The Asia South Pacific Association for Basic and Adult Education (ASPBAE) and Azad Foundation-India will organise a virtual side event to offer analyses and solutions to address gender just education (SDG 4) and decent work (SDG 5 and SDG8). GJSE is as a pathway to recovery and sustainability where marginalised girls and women develop their agency to transform their lives and communities |
