Although there is solid agreement around the many benefits AI can have, the reality is that AI can have both positive and negative implications on society as well as on the implementation of the SDGs.
This (virtual) side event will focus on presenting a new framework for evaluating AI initiatives to tackle SDGs. It will highlight the interconnection between SDGs and AI by showcasing one hundred outstanding AI initiatives that promote SDGs from around the world and utilize them as a basis for innovative research.
The event will also announce a new Call for 100 TOP proposals on AI solutions for the SDGs, with the aim to mobilize researchers to collaborate on key AI methods and sustainable development topics and to increase the impact of the results in progressing faster in joined efforts rather than working in isolation. The projects included are most directly connected to SDG17, but the solutions tackle challenges of all of the 17 development goals.
