Leveraging interlinkages among the SDGs to realize the 2030 Agenda and build back better from COVID-19

Integrated Policy Analysis Branch- UN Secretariat

In preparation for the 2022 HLPF, the Division for Sustainable Development Goals of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA/DSDG), together with other partners, organized several Expert Group Meetings (EGM) on the SDGs under review. This side event will take stock of the review of SDGs in 2022 and focus on the interlinkages among the SDGs under review and between other SDGs    Understanding interactions among the Goals will be crucial to realizing the Goals on the ground, as well as being significant for attaining overarching objectives such as risk reduction, resilience, inclusion and sustainability as countries strive to build back better from COVID-19 working across siloes and in consultation with affected people. The side event will highlight the most significant interlinkages – based on the most recent scientific thinking and evidence – among SDGs 4, 5, 14, 15 and 17 and the rest of the 2030 Agenda and seek to find opportunities and blind spots where the international community could further their endeavors on increasing synergies and minimizing trade-offs.
