Meaningful and inclusive engagement of young people in accelerating progress towards implementing the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.

Asian Pacific Resource and Research Centre for Women (ARROW)

Brief description of the event:

In line with the HLPF theme which focuses on building back better from COVID-19, the side event will discuss meaningful and inclusive engagement of young people in accelerating the progress towards SDG 4, 5, 13, 14, 15 and 17. The side event will highlight the Call to Action developed by young people at the APFSD Youth Forum and the Asia and the Pacific Regional ECOSOC Youth Forum 2022 and discuss ways to implement the recommendations.

Please refer to the link below for the Call to Action

The focus of the panel discussion will be on the implementation of the recommendations and discuss potential challenges and opportunities for sustainable and inclusive recovery, including on the access to equitable, accessible and affordable COVID-19 vaccines for young people.

The panel’s emphasis will be on young people’s views and recommendations from the Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) Youth Call to Action for resilient recovery from the pandemic in order to achieve Agenda 2030 including strengthening of policies and institutions of government and mobilisations of multistakeholder support and partnerships.

As we are in the final decade of action for the 2030 Agenda, the side event will produce a set of concrete actionable recommendations from the APFSD Youth Call to Action 2022 in responding to the COVID-19 crisis with a particular focus on Sustainable Development Goal under review which includes SDG 4, 5, 13, 14, 15 and 17. The discussions will also contribute to institutional, economic and social development in the region when implemented.
