Changing Course? The Arab region’s SDG progress and COVID-19

ESCWA’s side event will focus on key entry points for SDG action and acceleration in the Arab region in the context of COVID-19, based on findings of the Arab Sustainable Development Report. It highlights SDG interlinkages, examines barriers to achievement, sheds light on those most at risk of being left behind, and identifies entry points for moving forward.

The focus will be:

  • Progress towards the SDGs from 2016-2020 – where we were going before COVID-19 and how we were falling short
  • How COVID-19 shifts our trajectory
  • How to use this moment to mobilize efforts for a transformative approach
