2020 turned out to be the year of lockdown instead of action, and slowdown at multilevels rather than acceleration for many countries in the world, as well as those in the Arab region despite being labelled as the Decade of Action.It also revealed the urgent need for comprehensive and rights-based development agendas with a new social contract to be implemented. The side event will present main development challenges of the Arab region, the role of different stakeholders for achieving it and policy recommendations for addressing social injustices, structural challenges, poverty and inequalities.
