Finding: Even when the report does not highlight good practices, it is possible to underline the "Programa Patio Saludable" (Healthy Patio Program), which seeks to motivate food production in houses' backyards to improve families' food availability promoting healthy and nutritious food consumption habits among its members. The program also supports new income for households resulting from the commercialization of production surplus. According to the VNR, approximately 22% of production is traded. The promoted crops are rich in proteins, vitamins, fibers, calcium, and iron. Their cultivation is complemented with minor species breeding to guarantee a diversified diet. Since the program started in 2012, it has reached 362,373 families.
