Year: 2021Income Group: Low incomeSource: VNRFinding: Niger adopted multilevel work tools integrating the environmental variable into economic and social decision-making to cope with climatic disasters and other catastrophes.
The country approved multiple interlinked documents, such as the Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development Strategy, the National Policy on Climate Change, the National Policy for Humanitarian Action and Disaster Management, the Reduction of Risks and Disasters National Strategy, and the National Policy for the Environment and Sustainable Development.
At the same time, climate change was incorporated into the National Economic and Social Development Plan, the Regional Development Plan, and Territorial Development Plans.
As a result, risks of and responses to climatic disasters were integrated into all State management levels, and they should be weighed in every social and economic public policy decision-making process.
