WFP, ICRAF and partners envision building an integrated farm pond support system capable of expanding and sustaining the massive upscaling of farm pond technology. The initiative was created in 2009, ongoing till present time 2021 funded, implemented and governed by the Autonomous Intergovernmental Institution for the use of Micro-algae Spirulina Against Malnutrition (IIMSAM). The IIMSAM Free Humanitarian Distribution Spirulina Program has so far in the communities in Kisumu continue to rip the abundant health benefits from feeding on Spirulina distributed from IIMSAM Center. IIMSAM is remembered for playing a pivotal role in helping save the lives of thousands of children and adults in Kenya since 2009 to the present.
