Welcome to the United Nations
The fourth annual SDG 6 Special Event during HLPF provides opportunities for discourse on global water and sanitation topics and features the launch of the UN system-wide strategy for water and sanitation. It will also feature discussions of country-level actions toward implementing the new UN strategy and launch SDG 6 Global Acceleration Framework Country Acceleration Case Studies from Cambodia, Czechia, and Jordan. It facilitates a space to engage in the global water discourse with updates from international water events, a Member States roundtable about the upcoming 2026 UN Water Conference, as well as updates on the Water Action Agenda commitments made during and following the UN 2023 Water Conference. In light of the HLPF's in-depth review of SDGs 1, 2, 13, 16, and 17, the SDG 6 and Water Action Agenda Special Event further focuses on approaches to mainstream water in the context of no poverty, zero hunger, climate action, peace, and partnerships.
