In the lead up to the official launch of the UN's The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World (SOFI) report on 24 July in Brazil, FAO and its co-publishing partners will present key messages from the report during a Special Event focused on the SOFI 2024 theme, "Financing to End Hunger, Food Insecurity and Malnutrition in All its Forms." The theme and associated analysis in the 2024 edition of SOFI involve a close look at current levels and gaps in financing for food security and nutrition, providing envelope-pushing recommendations regarding innovative financing options to help address the major drivers of food insecurity and malnutrition, and support agrifood system transformation –all of which are critical to achieving SDG Targets 2.1 and 2.2. The discussion at the HLPF Special Event sets the scene for the launch of the full SOFI 2024 report in Rio de Janeiro on 24 July, where new UN data and statistics regarding global hunger, food insecurity, and malnutrition in all its forms will be released.
